Property: Nobel Drew Ali Plaza,
Brooklyn, NY.
Conditions
The property was built in 1973 and is located in Brooklyn, NY. It is made up of five 6 story buildings that surround a common courtyard, containg 385 apartments of which a 1/3 were vacant due to unlivable conditions.
The plaza had been taken over by squatters and drug dealers who made the complex environment unbearable for tenants and their children. Children couldn’t play outside and residents couldn’t leave without seeing a drug deal. Tenants would go months without heat or hot water, along with holes in the ceilings and rats feeding off of the garbage left piled in the hallways. It was later found that one drug dealer took over 20 apartments and sold 20,000 dollars worth of heroin daily.

Approach
Rather than start with the worst parts of the complex, i.e. the vacant apartments occupied by criminals, SecureWatch24 decided to first secure the best parts of the complex and make it more livable for the people residing there. This provided comfort and ease of mind for the tenants before moving on and weeding out the drug users and dealers in the plaza.
